National Home Visiting Week

It’s been a pretty special week around the office here at Family Network, because for the first time ever, we have been able to join hundreds of other programs across the United States to celebrate National Home Visiting Week.

The Institute for the Advancement of Family Support Professionals, an organization focused on strengthening home visiting and human service programs across the country, is collaborating with nonprofit partners and elected officials to organize the event. NHVW garnered bipartisan support as U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley (R– Iowa) and Mark Warner (D–Virginia) issued a proclamation to highlight the importance of home visiting.

The last full week of April (Monday-Friday) is reserved for National Home Visiting Week for years to come!

The positioning of this week at the end of National Child Abuse Prevention Month is a nod to the essential work that home visiting programs do to strengthen child development, strengthen family relationships, and reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect.

Currently, Family Network has 8 home visitors on staff and works with 57 families across Northwest Arkansas through 2 home visiting models: Healthy Families America, and SafeCare.

Home visiting is a powerful tool to ensure families have what they need during those crucial early years of a child’s life, creating an impact that lasts generations.

Have you been impacted by home visiting? Please help us spread awareness and lift up the voices of families by sharing your experience with others. If you share on social, feel free to link this post and tag us!

Sincerely,

Audrey Zavaleta
